MEN’S LEATHER WALLETS: THE ESSENTIALS

Remember the time in college when you carried all your important things in a wallet made of duct tape? Well, that was cool for a minute, but you’re out of college now, and it’s high time you get yourself a grown-man wallet. All of our men’s leather wallets are made to stand the test of time and nature, handcrafted with the best leather and high-quality stitching. That means you can rest assured that your wallet will hold up and look good whether you’re in a fishing boat off the Florida Keys or sitting in that board meeting.

With all of the men’s leather wallets out there right now, it has become harder to sort through the clutter to find true quality. Well, we didn’t pass over any detail on this selection of men's leather wallets and we guarantee that you’ll find one with your name on it.

OUR LEATHER WALLETS ARE MADE TO LAST

Our favorite part of our leather wallets is the weathered look that develops over time. This patina is unique to every wallet. All of our wallets tell their own story over the years as they develop a unique look from being carried around, opened and closed. And, with our commitment to quality using premium leather and masterful craftsmanship, you can rest assured that it’s made to last. One of our wallets is soon to be a staple in your wardrobe, helping you make good impressions anywhere you go.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LEATHER WALLET

Cleaning a leather wallet is more about protecting and moisturizing the leather than making the wallet look squeaky clean. Quality men’s leather wallets develop a patina with age and look even better over time. We don’t want to prevent or undo that. Instead, here’s the way to clean a leather wallet while still preserving its inherent quality and beauty.

SUPPLIES

INSIDE

  1. Remove all contents from inside your wallet, and shake out any loose dirt that may have collected in there.
  2. To get into the corners, use a straw to blow out any lint, dust, or dirt that may be hiding. (A toothpick can help with stubborn corners, but use extreme caution!)

OUTSIDE

  1. Use a dry cloth to remove any basic surface dust and dirt from the outside of your wallet.
  2. Now wipe down the exterior using a cleaner that is specially formulated for leather. Apply the cleaner with a soft cloth in a circular motion; then remove with a slightly damp cloth to avoid clogging the pores of the leather.
  3. Lastly, find a conditioner that’s specially formulated for leather and test an inconspicuous spot before applying it to your entire wallet. Conditioning can slightly change the color of the leather, so be sure you’re happy with the effect. If so, apply the conditioner to a clean cloth, and then gently rub over the entire leather wallet, taking special care around any embellishments.

Note that you don’t need to complete a full cleaning and conditioning process very often. (Really, the brisk dusting will go a long way when it comes to everyday care.) But taking time to clean and condition your leather wallets at least twice a year (up to once a month) will enhance the natural beauty of the leather, prevent it from drying out over time, and ultimately extend the life of your leather wallet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is the difference between cow leather and bison leather?

Men’s leather wallets made with cow leather or bison leather are both really great options. The main differences are in the grain pattern and how the leather is processed.

Processing:

Bison leather and cow leather wallets are both made by skilled artisans in the traditions of centuries past, but bison hides are not stretched during the tanning process like cowhides are.

Appearance:

As for quality, the same grades (full-grain, top-grain, etc.) apply to both bison leather and cow leather. Regarding hide sizes, even though a bison is a much larger animal than a cow, bison hides are generally smaller in size because they’re not stretched like cowhides. Bison leather has a distinctive grain pattern that distinguishes it from cow leather.

2. Which wallet should I choose?

While all of our men’s leather wallets are marked by durability and functionality, we know it can be hard to choose! Here are the three main options you’ll find in our collection:

Leather Money Clips:

You may not technically consider this a “wallet,” but the leather money clip definitely makes the list. Essentially the anti-wallet wallet, a leather money clip offers simplicity and minimalist appeal. If you can keep it ultra-tidy, a leather money clip is a clean and simple option.

Slim ID Wallets:

Slim ID wallets (or card wallets) are the sweet spot between a money clip and a billfold. Want the slim profile of a money clip, but without all the exposure? Truth be told, you’ll be able to carry about the same number of items in a slim ID wallet as in a money clip. So, if you appreciate a classic leather wallet but you’re drawn to the appeal of minimal bulk, a slim ID wallet is a strong option.

Billfolds: Leather Bifold Wallets & Leather Trifold Wallets

Traditional leather billfolds, whether bi-fold or tri-fold, offer timeless appeal and even the warmth of nostalgia in our fast-paced world. (Can you still picture Granddad pulling that soft, weathered billfold from his pocket at the filling station?) Billfolds come in two main variations: bifolds and trifolds. Because of the extra fold, trifolds tend to take up more space in a pocket, but depending on the design (and how it’s filled), that isn’t always the case.
