  • Introducing our Black Vintage Bomber Jacket. A timeless piece that transcends rugged elegance and the classic aviation charm. Crafted with 100% full grain lambskin leather, it has a soft and broken in feel to it that looks like it's been handled with generations of care. Our black leather bomber jacket features a full zip up closure, color matched ribbed cuffs and waist, and a unique detachable sherpa collar that can be removed, or worn, to provide extra warmth and comfort for brisk nights on the town or chasing the horizon.

From day one, you will love the ready to go broken in leather feel. Look at the inside and you'll find a quilted nylon pattern lining, easy to clean, with interior chest pockets to hold all those valuables. Through and through, you'll find that no element of function, comfort, or style has been overlooked in this classic black leather bomber jacket with sherpa collar.

Our Black Vintage Classic Jacket is for the vintage man. As rugged and iconic as the battle-tested captains of the sky. Crafted from 100% Sheepskin Leather, Full Grain Leather, and in that classic modern style that speaks to the past as well. This one promises to be your steadfast companion, embodying the essence of both timelessness and rugged refinement.

The most versatile bomber in the lineup. Black lambskin pairs as easily with a button-down for dinner as with a hoodie and jeans for the road. The detachable sherpa collar gives you two looks in one jacket: collar up for warmth on cold nights, collar off for a cleaner silhouette. Ribbed cuffs and waist keep the cold out and the fit close. This is the bomber for the man who doesn't overthink what he's wearing but always looks like he did.

    Full-Grain Lambskin Leather, Black

Buttery soft black lambskin with a vintage, broken-in feel from day one. The black finish reads more refined than the Distressed Brown variant and pairs across more dress codes.

    Detachable Sherpa Collar

Sherpa collar buttons on for cold-weather warmth and buttons off for a cleaner silhouette. Two looks in one jacket. The sherpa contrasts handsomely against the black leather.

    Aviator Heritage Silhouette

Cut in the lineage of classic G-1 and MA-1 aviator jackets. Waist-length, ribbed cuffs and waistband, full front zip.

    Color-Matched Ribbed Cuffs and Waistband

Heavyweight ribbed knit at the cuffs and hem in matching black, locking heat in around the wrists and waist.

Slick, durable quilted nylon lining with a subtle pattern. Easy to clean, holds up to repeated zipping and layering.

Twin Hand Pockets + Interior Chest Pockets

Two side entry hand pockets for daily carry plus interior chest pockets for valuables.

    Product Guidance

The man who wants a bomber that pairs as easily with dressed-up looks as with casual wear.

The shoulder-season wearer. The detachable sherpa collar makes one jacket cover spring through late fall.
Sizing & Fit Use the WaiR fit tool above for a personalized recommendation.
Sizing philosophy: Standard fit, classic aviator cut.
Between sizes: Size DOWN. The lambskin will soften and conform with wear.
Standard size: Fits a tee or henley underneath comfortably.
One size up (only for heavy layering): Adds room for a flannel or midweight sweater.
Sherpa collar on or off: The collar adds a half-inch of bulk at the neck.
Care Condition every 3 to 6 months. Lambskin is naturally soft and low-maintenance. Clean the sherpa collar separately with a damp cloth.
Products You May Be Interested In Pair With: Bridger Leather Down Vest | Black. Matching black leather + down vest layers cleanly under the Maverick for cold-weather wear. The all-black combination reads sharper than contrasting tones.
Compare To: Legacy Leather Jacket | Brown. Heavier full-grain cowhide flight jacket with a leather collar and a slimmer, more tailored fit. Maverick reads more casual; Legacy more refined.
Layer Under: A heavier outer layer for true winter. The Maverick is a 3-season jacket.

    Product FAQs

    How does the Maverick fit?

Use the WaiR tool for a personalized recommendation. In between sizes? Size down. The lambskin leather is soft from day one and molds to your body quickly.

What's the difference between Vintage Black and Distressed Brown?

Same construction, same sherpa collar, same fit. Vintage Black reads more refined and versatile across dress codes. Distressed Brown reads more rugged and casual with a built-in vintage character. Black is the more universal pick; Brown the more characterful.

    Is the sherpa collar removable?

Yes. It buttons on and off. Wear it up for extra warmth or remove it for a cleaner bomber silhouette.

What's the difference between the Maverick and the Legacy?

Different jacket styles. The Maverick is a classic bomber with ribbed cuffs, relaxed fit, and detachable sherpa collar. The Legacy is a flight jacket with a leather collar, zippered chest pockets, and a slimmer, more tailored fit.

How do I care for it?

Condition every 3 to 6 months. The lambskin is naturally soft and low-maintenance. Clean the sherpa collar separately with a damp cloth.

Will lambskin hold up to daily wear?

Yes, with reasonable care. Lambskin is softer than cowhide, which means it breaks in faster but also requires avoiding sharp objects and saddle soap. Conditioned twice a year, the Maverick will outlast most of what you wear daily.

    Will the black fade?

Black lambskin develops a subtle patina over years of wear rather than the visible color shifts of brown leather. Pressure points (elbows, shoulders) may develop a slight gloss with age.

    What's the warranty?

A one year warranty covers stitching, hardware, and structural defects. Normal patina and wear marks are part of how the product is meant to age and are not defects.

  • How to Measure Yourself

Shopping online, as most of us do nowadays, you’ll want to know your measurements to help ensure a great fit. The sketch below shows where to take measurements to compare to clothing you already own. Keep in mind, however, those measurements will only be helpful if taken correctly. Tip: don’t let the measuring tape hang loose when you’re measuring, but avoid pulling the tape excessively tight. Here’s how to get accurate measurements:

Length: Measure from the bottom of the collar to the waist seam.

Shoulders: Measure between the top of the sleeve seams.

Chest: Measure the entire circumference of your chest. Begin with one end of the measuring tape 1 inch below the armhole at the fullest part of your chest. Then, keeping the tape level, wrap it around (under your armpits, around your shoulder blades, and back to the front) to get the measurement.

Sleeve: Accurately measuring sleeve length is tough to do yourself, so ask someone to help with this. Beginning with one end of the tape at the top of your arm, then down to your wrist. This entire length is your arm-length measurement.

How should a leather jacket fit?

Do the same rules apply to how a jacket should fit as to other jackets or outerwear? Not necessarily. Read on for details.

Leather will stretch over time, so you never want to start with a leather jacket that is too big. But that doesn’t mean you want a jacket that’s too small! It’s also essential to allow room for layers under your leather jacket. Here are a few specific tips for finding a leather jacket that fits just right:

Chest: Leather jackets ought to fit more snugly through the chest than a regular overcoat, but consider the types of layers you may want to wear underneath. If you live in a warm climate and will be layering over light clothing such as a dress shirt or t-shirt, we recommend adding 2-3 inches to your measured chest size. If you live in a colder climate and layering over heavier clothing such as sweaters, we recommend adding 3-4 inches to your chest size. If you land between sizes, we recommend sizing up to the next size available. Tip: you should be able to comfortably zip or button your leather jacket all the way up, even if you plan to wear it open.

Shoulders: Suit coat rules do not apply to leather jackets, so it's okay if the shoulder comes down your arm a few inches. However, even though the leather will give over time if the shoulder seam is higher than your shoulder, the jacket is too small.

Waist: The bottom of your leather jacket should not reach below the bottom of your belt/top of your thigh. This is likely shorter than other overcoats you've owned, but a leather jacket that hangs well below the belt is too big unless you're wearing a long leather trench coat.

Sleeve Length: The proper sleeve length on a leather jacket is consistent with pretty much any jacket: sleeves should end at your wrist.
