The Dakota Waxed Canvas & Leather Pistol Case is the field-day version of our Dakota pistol case — built for hunters, range-goers, and anyone who needs a soft case that holds up in wet weather. The body is heavyweight 18 oz waxed cotton canvas, water-resistant out of the box. The trim and carry loop are full-grain leather. The interior is faux shearling, scratch-resistant against the firearm's finish. The zipper is YKK brass. The hardware is antique brass.
Interior dimensions of 13.5" x 7.25" x 1.75" (at the widest point) accommodate most full-size pistols and revolvers with barrels up to 6 inches, including 1911s, Glock 17/19, Sig P226/P229, Beretta 92, CZ 75, and Smith & Wesson revolvers. The full-open zip top makes for easy access. The reinforced sides hold their shape over years of use.
This is a soft case built for active carry — the truck cab, the range bag, the duck blind, the deer stand. The waxed finish picks up its own patina over time. The leather trim darkens. The whole case looks better the more you use it.

Waxed canvas or all leather?

Is it waterproof?
Water-resistant, not waterproof. The 18 oz waxed canvas sheds rain, snow, and dew, but it's not designed for submersion. Re-wax periodically to maintain water resistance.
Will this fit a 1911?
Yes. Full-size 1911s (5" barrel, ~8.5" OAL) fit comfortably with room for a spare magazine alongside.
Will it fit a Glock 17 or Sig P226?
Yes. Both fit with room for a spare magazine. Compact and subcompact pistols (Glock 19, 26, 43, Sig P365, S&W Shield) fit with additional room.
Will it fit a revolver with a 6" barrel?
Yes — up to a 6" barrel. Revolvers with 7.5"+ barrels will not fit.
Is this a hard case suitable for airline travel?
No. This is a soft case for storage, range, and vehicle transport. TSA-compliant air travel requires a hard, lockable case.

How do I care for waxed canvas?
