"This is my 9th BJTC bag. I needed a rugged, yet stylish canvas bag for our adventure van-life excursions. This Dakota did not disappoint. It was the perfect size for what I need…the side pouches were functional for my small outdoor gadgets, and the interior had the typical, yet functional space for my weekend apparel and accessories. The construction was as expected…durable stitching and robust canvas grade. The latch could be beefier, but was not a deal breaker. I wax coated my Dakota with the BJ canvas wax and it was ready for the outdoors couple day later. So far so good!"

"This is a very nice bag, but it's front-heavy, and as a result it won't stand up on its own. If you set it down, it just topples over, which is a real headache if you have a coffee in one hand and want to get something out of it, or if the ground is wet or dirty. I've had the bag for several years, and this is enough of a daily frustration that i had to write this review. i wouldn't buy it again."

Perhaps if the canvas was lined inside, I'd feel more comfortable putting a computer in the sleeve. Right now I've put the laptop in a light, poly-something-or-other sleeve before sliding it inside the bag. Nevertheless, I do love the Dakota Waxed Canvas Messenger Bag. Perhaps, at the same time, I've found and lost my wild. For unlike Thoreau, I can "live deliberately" hiking down to the casino level at the Wynn where the Dakota Waxed Canvas Messenger is just as fitting. Many thanks. KF"

"The bag itself is awesome, no complaints whatsoever with design or construction. Unfortunately the padding on the shoulder strap started falling apart almost immediately. I’ve had it a little over 3 weeks and at least 50% of the padding is gone. Probably a good idea to switch to a different more durable material because this really takes away from how great the bag is. If not for the strap, I’d give it a 5 star."
