  • There's no time wasted embarking on your alpine adventure. The frosty gondola doors open, beginning their morning rounds as you arrive. High upon the panoramic ridge, you plot your course, traversing and descending your way back towards the base, back towards the roaring fire that awaits in the lodge. There too, awaits your Bridger.

Full grain lambskin leather meets warm down feathers in one eye-catching jacket defined by unparalleled comfort and style. Face the elements in our black leather bubble jacket. A classic choice for the rugged gentleman who values timeless style. On any mountain in any range, the Bridger is built to keep you feeling as good as it looks from first tracks to apres. High-end without being flashy, the ruggedness of this leather down jacket includes details like an interior left-side chest pocket and antique brass finishing on the zipper front closure and zippered hand pockets.

The black leather puffer that pairs as easily with a suit as with denim. The most versatile color in the Bridger lineup. Goes with everything, hides everything, and develops a more subtle patina than the brown variants over years of wear. Throw it on over a tee for a weekend on the mountain or over a button-down for a Friday night in the city. It handles both without trying.

Sizing & Fit Use the WaiR fit tool above for a personalized recommendation.
Sizing philosophy: Slim through chest and shoulders, tailored silhouette.
Between sizes: Size up. The down fill takes interior room.
Standard size: Fits a tee shirt and long-sleeve henley underneath without pulling.
One size up: Adds room for a flannel, midweight sweater, or thermal base layer.
Cinch toggle hem allows fit adjustment after sizing.
Care Condition the leather every 3 to 6 months. Avoid machine washing. If wet, air dry naturally, never near direct heat. Store on a wide hanger.
Products You May Be Interested In Pair With: Bridger Leather Down Vest | Black. Same lambskin, same down, same black finish. Layers over the jacket on the coldest days and underneath when you don't need full coverage.
Compare To: Highlands Quilted Leather Jacket | Black. Same price tier, also offered in black. The Bridger has down fill insulation; the Highlands uses quilted lambskin construction. Choose the Bridger for genuine cold-weather wear.
Layer Under: Yukon Wool Shirt Jac. Heavyweight wool shirt-jacket fits cleanly under the Bridger when sized up one. Adds warmth at the chest and shoulders without changing the silhouette.

    Product FAQs

    How warm is the Bridger?

Uses 80/20 down insulation with 530 fill power inside a full-grain lambskin shell. Customers report wearing it in sub-zero temps. For extreme cold, layer a wool sweater underneath.

    Is black versatile?

Black is the most versatile color in the Bridger lineup. It pairs as easily with a suit and dress shoes as with jeans and boots. It also hides daily wear, dust, and small marks better than the brown variants.

    How does the Bridger fit?

Use the WaiR tool on this page for a personalized size recommendation. Generally true to size. In between sizes, size up.

How do I care for it?

Condition the leather every 3 to 6 months. Avoid machine washing. If wet, air dry naturally, never near direct heat. Store on a wide hanger.

    Will black leather fade?

Black lambskin develops a subtle, even patina over years of wear rather than the visible color shifts you see on brown leather. With proper conditioning the black holds its depth indefinitely.

    Is the leather waterproof?

Lambskin is naturally water-resistant but not waterproof. Handles snow flurries and a light rain. In sustained rain, the leather absorbs water and the down loses loft. Wipe dry promptly.

    Can the down be re-fluffed?

Yes. Hang the jacket and gently pat each panel by hand to redistribute the fill. If sections feel flat after long storage, hang in a steamy bathroom for ten minutes and pat again.

    What's the warranty?

A one year warranty covers stitching, hardware, and structural defects. Normal patina and wear marks are part of how the product is meant to age and are not defects.

  • How to Measure Yourself

Shopping online, as most of us do nowadays, you’ll want to know your measurements to help ensure a great fit. The sketch below shows where to take measurements to compare to clothing you already own. Keep in mind, however, those measurements will only be helpful if taken correctly. Tip: don’t let the measuring tape hang loose when you’re measuring, but avoid pulling the tape excessively tight. Here’s how to get accurate measurements:

Length: Measure from the bottom of the collar to the waist seam.

Shoulders: Measure between the top of the sleeve seams.

Chest: Measure the entire circumference of your chest. Begin with one end of the measuring tape 1 inch below the armhole at the fullest part of your chest. Then, keeping the tape level, wrap it around (under your armpits, around your shoulder blades, and back to the front) to get the measurement.

Sleeve: Accurately measuring sleeve length is tough to do yourself, so ask someone to help with this. Beginning with one end of the tape at the top of your arm, then down to your wrist. This entire length is your arm-length measurement.

How should a leather jacket fit?

Do the same rules apply to how a jacket should fit as to other jackets or outerwear? Not necessarily. Read on for details.

Leather will stretch over time, so you never want to start with a leather jacket that is too big. But that doesn’t mean you want a jacket that’s too small! It’s also essential to allow room for layers under your leather jacket. Here are a few specific tips for finding a leather jacket that fits just right:

Chest: Leather jackets ought to fit more snugly through the chest than a regular overcoat, but consider the types of layers you may want to wear underneath. If you live in a warm climate and will be layering over light clothing such as a dress shirt or t-shirt, we recommend adding 2-3 inches to your measured chest size. If you live in a colder climate and layering over heavier clothing such as sweaters, we recommend adding 3-4 inches to your chest size. If you land between sizes, we recommend sizing up to the next size available. Tip: you should be able to comfortably zip or button your leather jacket all the way up, even if you plan to wear it open.

Shoulders: Suit coat rules do not apply to leather jackets, so it's okay if the shoulder comes down your arm a few inches. However, even though the leather will give over time if the shoulder seam is higher than your shoulder, the jacket is too small.

Waist: The bottom of your leather jacket should not reach below the bottom of your belt/top of your thigh. This is likely shorter than other overcoats you've owned, but a leather jacket that hangs well below the belt is too big unless you're wearing a long leather trench coat.

Sleeve Length: The proper sleeve length on a leather jacket is consistent with pretty much any jacket: sleeves should end at your wrist.
