PREMIUM VINTAGE LEATHER JACKETS

While modern technology has brought changes to the leather industry, we’re proudly crafting our vintage leather jackets to look and feel as great as the good ol’ days — with a few modern touches to accentuate what’s already great. We offer a full suite of vintage leather jackets in an array of styles that pay respect to the enduring values of grit, hard work, and adventure.

Our vintage leather jacket styles come in various types of leather: lambskin, sheepskin, bison leather, and cow leather. Each type of leather offers distinctive properties for each jacket style; mainly, these distinctions boil down to texture, appearance, and how the leathers are processed. One thing all of our leather types have in common: they make incredible leather jackets.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD VINTAGE LEATHER JACKET?

Buffalo Jackson vintage leather jackets include leather bomber jackets, leather motorcycle jackets, field jackets, and trucker jackets, and more. Whether you’re navigating the back country or the board room, we have a leather jacket for you.

But what makes a good vintage leather jacket? Here are a few things to look for:

DETAILS

When it comes to the vintage leather jacket look, details matter. That’s why we design our vintage leather jackets to preserve the details that made the originals worth re-creating. Well-placed pockets, buttons, and zippers; a strong collar (or none at all); the slightest taper (to narrow the waist and broaden the shoulders); a just-right fit (not. too. baggy.); premium leather and a comfortable interior.

STYLE

Vintage leather jackets are inherently stylish. An easy air of confidence has always followed the leather jacket, regardless of the kind of man who wears it, from pilots to bikers, rebels to rockers, CEOs to college students. The best of today’s inspired vintage leather jackets preserve that same easy style.

 QUALITY

It doesn’t really matter how stylish or detailed a jacket is if it’s constructed of poor quality materials. Decades-old vintage leather jackets are still around because they were made to last. “They just don’t make them like they used to” doesn’t have to be the case for you. Be sure to purchase a leather jacket that holds to the tradition of fine leather craftsmanship. The best vintage leather jackets feel good the first time you wear them and look even better the longer you have them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How do you care for vintage leather jackets?

To get the most out of your vintage leather jacket, you have to do some upkeep. Here is our simple guide to cleaning leather jackets. You can also browse our collection of leather care products, formulated to tackle dirt and stains while preserving the look and feel of your vintage leather jacket or bag. Also be sure to check out this article for details on what to do when your leather jacket gets wet.

2. How do you store vintage leather jackets?

You probably won’t be storing your vintage leather jacket a whole lot because you’ll be wearing it everywhere! But seasonally, it’s normal to store it for a while. Storing it properly will help keep the leather healthy and the jacket in good shape.

  • Clean it first. (Simply follow the steps in our leather jacket cleaning guide.)
  • Stuff the insides of your vintage leather jacket with acid-free paper. (Stuffing the jacket helps to keep its shape, and the acid-free paper helps create a barrier for dust, dirt, and moisture.)
  • Wrap your jacket in a breathable fabric. Do not wrap a vintage leather jacket in plastic, and avoid folding it when you wrap it.
  • If you have the space, hang the jacket on a wide cedar or padded hanger. (Do not use thin wired or plastic hangers.) If you don’t have space to properly hang it, you can place your leather jacket in a wooden (preferably cedar) trunk or even a suitcase. Like when wrapping, be sure to lay it flat without folds or creases, and do not store leather in a plastic container.
  • Store the jacket in a dry, cool area away from direct sunlight. Exposing a leather jacket to too much light or warmth can cause the leather to discolor, expand, dry out, or crack. Moisture is also a major cause for concern as it can cause mildew and mold to grow. Placing silica gel packets in the jacket pockets can help absorb moisture.

3. How should you style a vintage leather jacket?

Really, however you want. But, here are 3 of our favorite vintage leather jacket outfits:

  • Jeans + Tee Shirt: Nothing’s more timeless than a vintage style leather jacket with a black or white tee and a pair of jeans.
  • Sweatshirt: This will feel too casual for some occasions, but a well-fitting hoodie (not too baggy) under a leather jacket is a great look.
  • Plaid Button Down: This combo is a sure winner. You can’t go wrong with leather and plaid.  (Check out this article for more ideas.)

4. How do you break in a leather jacket?

Here are 3 easy tips to give your vintage style jacket that worn-in feel:

  1. Wear it.  The best way to break in any leather jacket is the old fashioned way – just keep on wearing it.
  2. Roll it into a ball. Simply use your hands to gently roll your leather jacket up into a ball. Release and repeat.
  3. Move and flex in it.  Repeat simple moves like arm circles and pushups to accelerate the “wearing” effect.  (Check out this article for a few more tricks.)
