Every man should own a necktie—and know how to tie a "Four in Hand" knot. This knot is simple, versatile, and easy to tie. It’s also slightly asymmetrical, which is just fine by us. We like our neckties like we like our lives: classic, honorable, and a little rough around the edges.

How to Tie a Four in Hand Knot

1.  Begin with the narrow end on the left and the wide end on the right. You want the narrow end to fall to just above your belly button. The wider end ought to hang several inches below that. (This will vary depending on the length of your tie and the length of your torso. Experiment with it a few times to determine what works best for you.)

2.  Cross the wide end over the narrow and then behind it to create a loop.

3.  Cross the wide end over the narrow again, right to left.

4.  Bring the wide end up from behind and through the loop (through the space between your collar and your tie).

5.  Tuck and pull the wide end down through the small loop at the front of the tie.

6.  Pull the wide end of the tie to slide the knot up, tighten, and adjust. When you know how to tie a "Four in Hand" knot (and when you choose classic neckwear that reflects YOUR personal style), you honor the men of old while still telling your own story. Far from “buttoned up and stuffy,” this is the heart of the rugged gentleman.
