I am roaring drunk with the lust of life and adventure and unbearable beauty.
Everett Ruess wrote those words a few months before his disappearance into the barren Utah desert. A bold adventurer, artist, and writer, he tramped around the Southwest between the ages of 16 and 20 with one goal: oneness with nature. In 1934, at the age of twenty, he vanished. His body was never found. His legend lives on. Many have called him a fool and laughed at his single-minded devotion to wilderness. But as Wallace Stegner wrote – “ If we laugh at Everett Ruess we shall have to laugh at John Muir, because there was little difference between them except age.”
This collection honors the spirit of Everett Ruess. All-leather bags designed to withstand the elements necessary to any adventure while also displaying an eye-catching beauty any rugged gentleman would be proud to carry. The leather is tanned to a color best described as canyon. If anyone laughs at these bags, they are the definition of a fool.
